I also worked out a detailed Andromedan SSD form which I wish to share.
Enjoy.
The Romulan MaxiHawk Modular Battleship
When the Romulans learned about the Klingon B-10, they naturally considered
building a battleship of their own. Several designs were considered including a
KR-style conversion of a purchased B-10 and an expansion of the Condor hull.
Both proved too expensive to move beyond the planning stage. About a year before
Operation Remus crippled the Romulan economy, a young Romulan engineer
electrified the Praetor's court with a battleship the Romulans might actually be
able to build. The battleship incorporated SparrowHawk and SkyHawk modules as well
as sizable areas of existing Hawk floor plans. The hull used 8 standard Hawk
engines instead of larger engines. The Romulans could accelerate building the
first one by selectively cutting and welding together pieces of two SparrowHawks
and a SkyHawk. Simulations showed that the dynamic balance caused by having 8
engines excluded some pods and gave the ship some HET problems, but they were
within tolerance.
The Romulans were set to build the MaxiHawk when Operation Remus hit. With the loss of the heavy shipyards on
Remus, plans were permanently shelved and the King Condor became the favored
pipe-dream of Romulan Admirals. When the Romulans decided to produce a
modular dreadnought, a scaled back version of the MaxiHawk was designed and given the
name "Sun Hawk." The SunHawk made
every cut but the final one, ultimately losing to the DemonHawk.
Editor's note: The MaxiHawk is a minor redesign of my MegaHawk design that I first put together in 1991 before Module R5 (let alone R7) came out. I sent it and all my other BB proposals to the ADB who sent them back unopened because R5 was close to shipping. Because R7 contains a ship dubbed the "MegaHawk", I have renamed my creation MaxiHawk to keep them properly differentiated.
For those that are interested, here's a link to my old MegaHawk design, produced using Visio 2.0
Revision of the Federation Battleship (Conjectural)
I never liked the ADB's Fed Battleship. It was a DNG saucer jammed on a bloated secondary hull. It looked like a cheap, fast way of cranking out a battleship. Me, I'd want a more "Fed-like" SSD. If the Feds were going to build a BB they'd build it as a class act with a new BB saucer (not a recycled DNG saucer) with an appropriate Forward-Aft Hull balance. NO Fed ship larger than SC 4 has Center Hull. I was rattling off my litany one day when I was challenged to build a better one. So I did. This BB is not necessarily better (in terms of combat power) than the ADB's Fed BB. It's just (IMHO) more Fed-like.
Andromedan EAF version 1.2 (text file)
This grew out of my frustration with both the ADB's Andromedan Energy Form as well as the PBEM Energy Allocation Form. Neither seemed to do a great job of representing the mathematical tricks an Andro has to go through. So I built one with an extensive worksheet which accounted for most of this crap.
