SCA (Super-Heavy Cruiser)
A continuing topic on the SFB Discussion Boards is what a "Super-Heavy cruiser" should be like. The term's been bandied around with no actual description behind it. I think of the KillerHawk, myself and my design reflects that. I perch a BCH saucer on a slightly-altered DNF secondary hull, creating a BCJ that was disqualified for steroid use. Like the BCJ, this critter suffers from shock. I'm pretty much co-opting the BCJ shock rules: This ship rolls for shock any time 5 or more photons are fired within 16 impulses. ANY time this ship fires an overloaded photon from E or F, it gets +1 SEP. The slightly heavier hull warrants a slightly higher shock rating--15 to the BCJ's 13. |

Klingon C7L
Super-Heavy Cruiser
My Klingon answer to my Fed SCA was intended to be just as monstrous as the Fed. I first thought about sticking a C7 boom on a C5 aft hull until I found that it's roughly equivalent to the C7's as it was, in some ways worse. So I decided to put a C5 boom on a C7 aft hull. That added a little firepower. Keeping the C7 aft hull left no arguments about FH + R/L disruptors, because those are a C7 feature as well. To increase the disruptor count to 6, I decreased the right and left warp engines to 12-box D5 engines and added a F6 engine to the boom, complete with the 2x FX disruptors. To seal the deal, I added 4 APR to the deckhouse to accommodate the added disruptors. This ship rolls for shock if more than 5 disruptors are fired within 16
impulses. Firing the E and F disruptors as overloads always gives
the ship +1 SEP. Its shock rating is 19 (the F6's is 23). |

Romulan
Blackhawk BCH
Again from the pages of the Discussion Boards:. Early this year, SVC called on another player to produce a "ShadowHawk" SSD. It was supposedly a Romulan BCH. Since the guy didn't exactly dive in with a SSD, I decided to build one. It came too late for the module SVC wanted it for, but I posted it nonetheless. My version splits the difference between a NovaHawk and a KillerHawk and borrows a page from the Gorn BCH, adding a third S-torp instead of an R. As a result, no shock. After submitting this ship under the name "ShadowHawk", I got a reply from SVC reminding me how hard it is to create Rom ship acronyms starting with "S" so I changed it to "Blackhawk", which was originally used by what is now called "Princehawk" (below). |

Romulan
Princehawk BCH
Whenever you do heavy hawks you always need to do two. One with 2x S-plasma, one with 1xR-plasma replacing the S-torps. I figured the ShadowHawk was no exception. I originally couldn't wrap my mind around the asymmetry of replacing 3 S-plasmas with one S-plasma and one R-plasma, so I cheated and gave the ship 2x R-torps, but later backed off after talking to Robert Cole. The Princehawk-X will keep the double-R torps because trading 2xM-torp for 1xR-torp isn't that hot a deal, but trading 3x M-torp for 2x R-torp is. This ship was the original holder of the "Blackhawk" name, but I really wanted something fitting the Royal/Regalhawk naming line anyway. The best I could come up with was "Princehawk". |

Federation-Gorn
BC (Federation Version)
Just for fun, I decided to build a Battlecruiser that was more or less built from bits and pieces of Fed and Gorn. The idea was to mount a BCH's bubbles and a pair of Gorn CM wings on a Fed BCH aft hull. The idea was to build a powerful unit from one base piece and a bunch of easy to build spare parts. The Gorn bubbles aren't really stuck together ice-cream cone style. They're stacked on top of each other, which is why the regular bubble has no weapons. This particular one is decked out in Fed style. Feds don't usually get center-hull but they have to put up with non-unified photon arcs for it.. |

Federation-Gorn
BC (Gorn Version)
The Gorn version actually seems OK. It gives the Gorns FP S-torps (something not many full-cruisers have) and a lot more front-pointing phaser firepower than they're used to. Still not my favorite SSD work. |
